Due to the heavy rains that swept over Slovenia, many watercourses rose extremely quickly and flooded a considerable part of Slovenia. Many places are inaccessible, road and public transport is obstructed. The weather conditions are slowly calming down, but we still urge you to act prudently and responsibly.The natural disaster did not spare even the Drava cycling route. We have collected key information for you about the accessibility of the Drava cycling route - Drava Bike.

Closures and diversions of the Drava cycling route in Maribor

In 2021, the Directorate of Infrastructure of the Republic of Slovenia started the reconstruction of the bridge over the Drava River between Selnica ob Drava and Ruše. During the works, the bridge will be completely closed, from May 31, 2021 to the fall of 2022. During the complete closure, pedestrians and cyclists will not be able to cross the bridge. For cyclists on the Drava cycle route, a detour is planned from the Castle of Fala along the Ruše–Puščava regional road to Ruše.

The Slovenian Infrastructure Agency (DRSI) is completing the construction of a 1.5 km long section of the Drava Cycling Route from the Municipality of Muta in the direction of the Water Park in the Municipality of Radlje ob Dravi.

The Slovenian part of the Drava Cycling Route is an increasingly attractive destination for both domestic and foreign cyclists. Under the slogan "An Experience Around Every Turn," it hides many adventures along and on the river Drava, from rafting, rowing, and swimming, to enjoying a variety of culinary delicacies, to learning about the cultural pulse of riverside towns. In the future, existing experiences under the brand Drava Bike will be joined by a new one, gold panning, which is being developed in the Municipality of Starše as part of the ZLATA DRAVA (Golden Drava) project.

The Partnership for the Drava Cycling Route, in cooperation with the Municipality of Starše, invites you to cycling along the route of the Drava Cycling Route and to the presentation of "panning for gold," as part of the GOLDEN DRAVA project, carried out in the Municipality of Starše.

You are invited to an enjoyable cycling weekend on the Drava Cycling Route. We will cycle the first two stages of the route between Dravograd, Radlje ob Dravi and Maribor. We are looking forward to a weekend full of adventures and enjoyment.

The summer cycling train will drive on Saturdays on the Koroška route on the Maribor - Dravograd route starting on June 27^th, 2020.

Cyclists from Slovenia and abroad have been able to cycle along the Drava Cycling Route for some time now, which is already fully marked; in recent years, many construction works have been carried out to complete the cycle route as quickly as possible.

At the beginning of May, the Municipality of Ormož re-arranged a 3 km long macadam part of the Drava Cycling Route along the HPP Formin canal.

Before the cycling season, the Municipality of Hajdina re-arranged a part of the macadam section of the Drava Cycling Route in Slovenja vas. The Maribor - Ptuj stage along the right bank of the river Drava thus has a well-arranged macadam base.

In order to ensure the best possible arrangement of signalization on the Drava Cycling Route, the Slovenian Infrastructure Agency (DRSI), before the start of the cycling season, installed supplementary signs on the Maribor - Ptuj route and repaired all orientation signboards damaged during the winter.

The Assembly of the Partnership for the Drava Cycling Route was held on Monday, January 27^th, 2020, on the beautiful premises of the Bukovje Manor in Dravograd.

We would like to point out that immediately after the Slovenian border, when the Drava Cycling Route leads towards beautiful sand dunes, the route is very rough and filled with gravel.

The Slovenian Railways report that the railway line through Carinthia (Koroška) on the section Vuhred – Vuzenica is open again.

In Muta, the construction of a bicycle underpass started on the new section of the Drava cycle path. The investor is the Slovenian Infrastructure Agency. When the underpass is finished, the cyclists will be safely guided under the busy state road.

In the municipality of Radlje ob Dravi, between Zg. Vižinga and the Water park, the construction of the new 1,5 km long section of the Drava cycling route has begun, with the Slovenian Infrastructure Agency as the investor.
