The construction of the first 2 km section of the Drava Cycling Route in the Municipality of Ruše, whose main investor is the Slovenian Infrastructure Agency (DRSI), is almost finished.
The Drava Cycling Route has a new, 30-kilometre long section between Maribor and Ptuj, which runs along the right river bank through Miklavž, Starše and Hajdino. The new stage is a more gradual and more traffic-friendly alternative to the existing section that leads through Malečnik and Duplek.
The new section, which runs through the municipalities of Miklavž na Dravskem polju, Starše and Hajdina, will be presented and put into use - to cyclists, on Thursday, July 12th, 2018, between 11.00 am and 1.00 pm on the platform at NK Rošnja - Loka.
The 3rd Drava Festival, which will last until July 15th, 2018, will offer more than 70 educational, environmental and recreational-tourist events organised by various associations and organisations on and along the Drava River. The entire festival programme can be found at www.dravafestival.si.
The new King of the Drava turned out to be ornithologist Dr. Damijan Denac, Director of DOPPS-Birdlife Slovenia and LIVE DRAVA project manager, who, together with his partners, contributed to the restoration of the river ecosystem of the lowland part of the Drava River in Slovenia.
Minister of Infrastructure, Dr. Peter Gašperšič, visited the Drava Cycling Route on April 6th, 2018, during regular visits on the field by bicycle, at which Slovenian Infrastructure Agency (DRSI) this year finished setting up new information boards.
In the Municipality of Ruše, the Slovenian Infrastructure Agency (DRSI) started building a 4.5 km long cycling route between Maribor and Ruše as part of the Drava Cycling Route.
In 2018, the Drava Cycling Route became 7 km richer with a new route. Cyclists can now cross the Fala HPP and cycle on the Apple Trail (Jabolčna pot) in Selnica ob Dravi and further towards Ruše. This new part is an extremely attractive route that allows the cyclist to ride over the Fala HPP, a landmark unique to Slovenia.
At the end of 2017, the Slovenian Infrastructure Agency replaced the signposts along the 145 kilometre Slovenian section of the Drava Cycling Route between Austria and Croatia. In total, over 400 signposts were either replaced or newly placed, thus ensuring high-quality directions for cyclists along the Drava Cycling Route.
