Learning path DRAVA NATURA 2000 Šturmovec

The new, four kilometer long DRAVA NATURA 2000 Learning Trail in Šturmovec Landscape Park A new learning trail has come to life in the Šturmovec Landscape Park, which will take you through the natural beauty and history of the area. The learning trail covers four kilometers, which you can walk in two hours. And that's not all - it's also suitable for cycling, meaning the whole family can enjoy exploring! Your adventure begins at the entry point, which is located not far from the Markovci dam on the local road Markovci - Videm. You will get to know the extensive area of cut flood forests, the typical riverine and riparian habitat of various animals and plants, many of which are on the red list of rare and endangered species. In the following, six interpretation points will give you knowledge about one of the most widespread types of grasslands in Slovenia, as it represents an important ecosystem and is one of the most colorful and diverse areas with an extraordinary biotic diversity. The learning trail ends at the newly dug wells, which were carried out as part of the project by the Directorate of Waters of the Republic of Slovenia with the aim of long-term preservation and improvement of the population of Veliki Pupko and Hribski Urho in the area of the Šturmovec Landscape Park. Take the time to discover the wonders of the plant world, which are the specialty of Šturmovec Landscape Park - wild orchids (pyramidal sawfly, helmeted cuckoo, three-toothed cuckoo and hairy starling). The route will lead you through various living environments, from floodplains, meadow forests, cultural landscapes, to overgrown forests and sandbanks. And let's not forget the animals, which are also a specialty of the park. You will be able to rest and watch birds, butterflies, small mammals and other animals in the mowed forest, meadows and fields of the Landscape Park through the peepholes.
You will also learn about the real state of the park, including the challenges it faces, such as endangered species of animals and plants, sewage pollution, etc. lagoons, the annual floods of the Drava and Dravinje rivers, and last but not least, observed the areas of illegal dumping of garbage by irresponsible individuals. A walk along this wonderful path will teach you how important it is to preserve nature and how each of us, as an individual, can contribute to its protection. This is not just a walk in nature - it is an opportunity to feel peace, quiet and respect for the living world.
